The lecture on the Poet-sage Du Fu was successfully held in Zhixin Building on Oct. 25th. The well-known scholar of contemporary Du Fu's research Zhang Zhonggang gave the lecture. Prof. Wang Xiaoshu presided at the lecture.

From multiple perspectives, Zhang Zhonggang elaborated on Du Fu’s lofty thoughts of concerning about the country and people and his innovation on poetry rules. Rather than blind loyalty, he considered Du Fu is a loyal minister with his own independent personality, and thought him as the original Confucianism successor and practitioner. He believed that Du Fu had achieved the level of incredible mastery of poetry.

Prof. Zhang highlighted the compilation process of Collation of Du Fu's Works. Several generations of experts devoted 35 years on this five-million-words book, which was highly evaluated by Mr. Xiao Difei. The lecture was jointly organized by the Faculty of Literature and Journalism, Cultural Quality Education Base of Shandong University, and Li Qingzhao&XinQiji Society. The teachers and students showed great interests in the lecture, and paid high tribute to scholars like Prof. Zhang for their enquiring spirit of knowledge and research.
