In order to improve the teachers’ knowledge structure and cultivate their humanity spirit, the middle school attached to Shandong University (MSASU) organized humanistic research training during the summer holiday. The dean of our school Zheng Chun was invited to give a lecture of humanity and scholarism for all teachers of MSASU. And the principle of MSASU Zhaoyong presided over that.

The topic of this lecture was ‘literature and feelings-- literature reading and its significance’, focusing on the importance of literature reading for education workers, and the special meaning of constructing feelings. During the lecture, Zheng Chun simply illustrated the definition of literature, why it was needed in real life, with a good deal of literacy works domestic and aboard, and many vivid and meaningful examples. He suggested a good literacy work would bring an emotional world, an elegant life and a tough spirit, and reading would decide a man’s Spirit dimension, which could further decide his horizon, mind and life. Zheng Chun said, literature was closely related to one’s feelings, and besides all the knowledge would eventually lead to ‘feelings’, found in ‘feelings’ and showed through it. He hoped that everyone would try to read more and better books, so as to build a powerful inner world, and to be a person loving literature, full of virtues and feelings. His speech aroused the interest of teachers’ present, and drew applauses from time to time.

Zheng Chun also held a friendly talk with the leaders of MSASU, reaching an agreement on closing contact, complementing each other with advantages and strengthening cooperation. And in order to cooperate with this training, and to enhance teachers' humanistic spirit and teaching ability of MSASU, both sides agreed to set this lecture as the beginning of a series of humanistic and academic activities. These activities would be arranged by our school under the title of ‘language and literature’
