On October 12,the First Dialogue Activity between the Famous Linguists from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan was held in the scientific hall of center campus.There were 6 specialists and scholars attending this dialogue as the invited speakers,who were from National social science fund language group, National Language Committee,Peking University, Lingnan University of Hong Kong, Hebei University and so on.Sheng Yuqi, the president of Shandong language society and professor of SLJ, took the chair.

Sheng Yuqi started to talk that the people who are from four districts of cross-straits have the "same race of human,same origin of language, same root of character", in the background of globalization and informatization nowadays," improving communication, agreeing to differ, harmonious development"is the shared vision of global Chinese, and the hot topics which linguists from both sides were concerning about. He listed some questions such as the simplified and complex Chinese character,homonymy,Synonymy profiled,homeosis, lettered-word and cyber language, and he invited the speakers to deliver speeches on their own fields.

Sheng Yuqi pointed out, multimedia technology and the popularity of network culture have accelerated the contacts and exchanges of different language and culture,and promoted the formation of multiple language cultural social life.Non Chinese character symbol such as letters, numbers, emoticons continue to come into written language,which impact the unification of the traditional written Chinese character symbol.The dialogue which the linguists combine academic and language life ,would contribute to languages and words users and the researchers exhaust problems and radically reform.

Later on, more than 20 audiences submit notes to ask questions, the guests gave the key answers,and the scene atmosphere was very warm.Shandong Language Committee director Liang Binyan,Shandong University Academic Section deputy director Wei Jian,School of Foreign Languages vice director Li Jiangang,School of Literature deputy secretary of party committee Zhang Shuai awarded medals to the speakers.This activity was co-sponsored by Shandong University Academic Section,Shandong Language Committee,Shandong Language Society and Shandong Foreign Language Society,Shandong University School of Literature and School of Foreign Languages were the co-organizer.Some representative expert attending the lexicology and English writing international congress and Nearly 300 teachers and students from college of arts, foreign language institute, school of law, international education college attended the meeting.
