Recently, Prof. Guo Qingguang, Director of Academic Committee of Journalism and Communication School of Tsinghua University, and Doctor Lai Xiangwu and Doctor Wang Pengjin visited the Literature and Journalism School (LJS) of Shandong University. Prof. Zheng Chun, Dean of the Literature and Journalism School of SDU, met with the guests.

During the conversation, Zheng extended his welcome to Prof. Guo on behalf of the School and thanked him for his long-standing support and assistance and briefed guests on the recent developments of LJS and introduced the conditions about teaching, scientific research, talent and discipline construction etc. Then Prof. Guo Qingguang gave a brief introduction about his many experiences and methods of research and emotionally recalled his contacts with students and faculty of SDU. The two sides agreed to strengthen academic exchange and close contact and further explore the new cooperation areas.

Professor Guo was born in Shandong Province in 1956, now he is the Director of Academic Committee of Journalism and Communication School, Tsinghua University. Professor Guo received his BA degree in Journalism from Renmin University of China in 1982 and continued his postgraduate study at the University of Tokyo. After finishing the PhD courses, he returned to China in 1992. Before joining the faculty at Tsinghua in 2009, he was Professor, vice Dean (1997-1998) and Dean (1999-2005) of the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University. Professor Guo is currently a member of the State Council’s Assessment Group on Journalism and Communication Degree. He is also the Director of the journalism branch of the China Council for Self-taught Higher Education Examinations and Chief Supervisor of Beijing Association of Online Media. His research interests include Communication Theories, Comparative Study of Communication Systems, Communication Law and Ethics, Journalism & Communication Education.
