On the afternoon of December 28th, the famous music critic Wang Jiyan gave a speech:Appreciation of Classical Music in Cultural Consumption Ageat Room 620, Block A in Zhixin Building. This lecture was held by New Xingtan, a well-known academic forum in Shandong University(SDU). Tenured professor Zeng Fanren hosted the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zeng gave a brief introduction of Wang Jiyan. Wang graduated from the School of Liberal Arts of SDU, studied under professor Zhou Laixiang. He is absorbed in the western classical music. He has worked in Culture and Arts Research Institute of Academy of Social Sciences, China National Symphony Orchestra，China Philharmonic Orchestra, and China Record Corp before.

Wang Jiyan mainly explained the concept of polyphony and sonata to the students freely. He narrated that symphony can give people sensuous enjoyment and inspire them just likeGod’s echo. He believed that there are pure feelings in classical music, which shows a traditional beauty of simplicity , offering people rich and pure aesthetic experience.

After that, Wang explained the accurate concept of polyphony. He mentioned that with the development of classical music, polyphony, as a musical form, has been replaced by homophony music .He also shared his view of Sonata form, another form of classical music.

In the end, Wang mentionedlistening to the music, the method he studied and made comments about music for many years. He encouraged the students to enhance their appreciation by appreciating various forms of art works.
